How can I reduce the size of my images?

Problem:

If the picture images on your web site take too long to download, you may want to look into a utility program that can reduce the size of your image file without drastically changing the quality of the picture.

It's possible to reduce the file size of an image by 50% or more!

Solution:

One program I use is called The JPEG Wizard from Pegasus Imaging Corporation. Go to their website to download a free trial version.

Example:

Here is an untouched image of Pegasus's logo, at 7,053 bytes in size:

Here is the same logo after compressing it 25% to 5,383 bytes:

And, here is the same logo after further compressing it to 3,105 bytes, a savings of 55% over the original file!
